The Baltimore Ravens have been leaving their mark on the football with four consecutive victories after their week 6 face-off against the Washington Commanders. The pivotal factor behind this winning streak is their unmatched running game.
Currently sitting at the top of the NFL rushing offense, the Ravens are a force to be reckoned with. But what exactly makes them such a formidable adversary on the field? Four-time Pro Bowl fullback, Patrick Ricard shares some insights.
"This year, we probably have the best heaviest back in football along with the tight ends, who can block but also run all the routes, and I think it just causes a lot of problems for teams." Ricard said in an interview with Clifton Brown for the Ravens' official team website.
When it comes to the Ravens' running back, Derrick Henry, who weighs in at a solid 247 pounds, and Ricard, who tips the scales at an impressive 300 pounds, it's no wonder that opposing teams struggle to halt their momentum. "I think it's a good changeup from our other players who are all very fast and skillful so it's like a defense has to cover it all," Ricard said.
Ricard, who started his career as a defensive tackle, quickly found his footing as a fullback. The University of Maine graduate has made four consecutive trips to the Pro Bowl between 2019 and 2022, and he's played a significant role in facilitating Henry's early success this year.
The Baltimore Ravens' powerful running game, spearheaded by Henry and Ricard, continues to pose a formidable challenge to their opponents. As they gear up for their next matchup, fans and opponents alike will be keeping a keen eye on this dynamic duo.
